The implementation of a QA program in a PET/CT center requires the performance of QC tests to test the equipment. Multiple protocols have been developed that include and describe the tests to be performed. However, its implementation requires trained personnel and specialized equipment. This paper seeks to characterize the resource available in Colombia, both human talent and instrumentation. This study has a descriptive research methodology. It is based on a survey to the PET/CT nuclear medicine services in Colombia, with questions about infrastructure, equipment, and personnel present in this diagnostic practice.16 surveys of 18 sent were collected. It was found that, compared to the technical director profile, seven of the 16 facilities have a full-time Physicist or Medical Physicist; 1 with a Biomedical Engineer, and the others outsource the performance of quality controls. 93.7% of the centers reported the use of a cylindrical phantom for calibration tests, 37.5% for a linear phantom, and 18.7% for a punctual phantom. Seven centers have NEMA phantom. The frequency of use of phantoms is diverse. The human talent and the phantoms available in the country are not sufficient for the implementation of all the tests included in the international protocols, which include specialized tests (spatial resolution, sensitivity, NECR, etc.) on a routine basis. However, considering the available resources, it is recommended to establish minimum periodic tests that include machine calibration and image quality evaluation on a routine basis.
